Do I have to put my parents financial aid information?

I'm currently filling out my Fafsa and on the section of "Parent Financial Information," there's a question stating "Do you want to skip the remaining questions about your and your mother's income and assets?" Is it okay if I put yes? If I select no, it pulls down to a menu to continue filling out fianancial information.

Also, is it okay to fill out a fafsa application, even thou I might not even attend school 2010 fall but i'll attend Spring?|||Unless you are completely independent, you do have to fill out your parents information. If you still live with your parents, or if they support you in any way, then you are still dependent and you have to include their information in the FAFSA application. But even though you fill out their information, the funding provided (if you are eligible) has nothing to do with either of your parents. They just ask for their information for some reason.

Also, it is OK to fill out the application even though you might not attend because you can always change the dates. Besides, the process cannot be completed until your current university confirms that you are a student.|||Your financial aid completely depends on your parents' income. If they make too much you won't get any. If they don't make enough you will get some grants. If you are under the age of 24 you definitely need your parents' income to apply for financial aid unless you can prove that you are an independent student and that would have to be determined in a court of law.

You should apply for financial aid as soon as possible even if you don't intend to go in the fall.

Why don't you ask your parents to help you fill out the form. You will have to provide their 2009 income tax.|||People under the age of 24 who unmarried and do not support any dependents (children) are considered dependent and must provide their parents' income when filling out the FAFSA. Failure to do so will causes your FASFA to reject, and you will not be processed for aid until the error is corrected.

If you are a dependent, but you are not in contact with your parents, and have no way to contact your parents; if your parents will not provide their income information for your to complete the FAFSA; if you were a ward of the court until you were 18 years old then you have special circumstance and will need to fill out the FAFSA as best you can and then talk to your school about your situation. These special circumstances will not necessarily qualify you for more aid, but it will help you to work around the fact that you should provide parental info, but cannot do so for legitimate reasons.
